With summer coming to a close, fall fast approaching and the first chills of winter creeping up, you may want to consider if your ride is ready for the winter. Getting your car road ready for winter can take a bit of time and scheduling so it is best to start now so you won’t feel rushed when those first snowflakes appear.
Here are a few tips for getting your car ready for winter:
1. Check your tires. Have your car’s tires inspected and rotated. The last thing you need in the middle of winter is to be driving on bald or rotted tires. Staying cautious about the condition of your tires will help keep you, passengers and others on the road safe.
2. Invest in all-weather floor mats. The slush, ice and snow can really harm the interior of your car. These elements will wear at the appearance of your auto and can also increase the chance of developing rot or rust.
3. Inspect the coolant system. Extreme temperatures can negatively impact the coolant system in your car. If any piece or the entire system looks like it is about to go bad, consider this as an opportunity to determine how much longer this auto is going to last. Using auto financing to purchase a used car, with a record of strong winter performance could be a better decision than constantly replacing decaying parts in your current vehicle.
