Potential homebuyers looking to purchase a house in an area known for supporting families may want to consider the recent Best Cities for Families list produced by Kiplinger. According to the source, metros that are considered prime for families show strong employment growth, maintain a reasonable cost of living, score high in terms of education quality and feature many other positive factors.
Here are two cities that made the list:
1. Rochester, New York. This city's metro area has a population of 1,054,323 and an unemployment rate of 8 percent, claims Kiplinger. Consequently, with a median household income of $51,434, the cost-of-living index rates this city a 98.6.
2. Des Moines, Iowa. A smaller city, there are only 569,633 residents in the greater metro area. However, with a low unemployment rate of 5 percent, median household income of $57,185 and a cost-of-living index score of 91.3, there's plenty of promise for this Midwestern metro.
