Home improvements on a dime

Homeowners who are hoping to increase the value of a house and create a space that is more desirable and inviting can do so with home improvement projects. By making a few minor changes, a property owner can give a room a complete facelift. Home improvement is often a wise way to protect a home as an investment and prepare it to one day go back on the market.
However, there are some improvements that will not require a property owner to use a large portion of home improvement financing. Below are a few small home improvement projects that are inexpensive and easy to do, but can make a big difference in the overall appearance of a room or home.
1. Change hardware - It's amazing how different a home can look with new hardware in all of the rooms. Something as simple as changing the lighting switch plates or getting a new faucet for a sink can transform a room from drab to fab.
2. Update walls - Outdated wallpaper and dingy paint can make a room look dull and uninviting. Give a room a more modern look with fresh paint and keep in mind that neutral colors are typically best for resale value.
3. Consider staging - A professional can help stage rooms so they look larger and more accessible.
