Are you tired of that dark and dingy kitchen? While wood paneling may have been all the rage in the 70s, it may be time to update. Use home improvement financing to hire a contractor to tear out those funky fixtures and renovate your kitchen into a modern paradise.
Here are three tips for hiring a contractor:
1. Get recommendations and check them out. Don’t shy away from requesting recommendations and calling up more than one of the people on the list. A contractor is an integral part of the home renovation process, and they will be in and out of your house and help make every decision.
2. Make sure the contractor is fully licensed, insured and bonded. Before hiring a professional for a job, ask for their license number and request a copy of the contractor’s insurance policy to know what is covered. According to Modern Home Guide, this can help prevent unwanted stress down the road if something goes wrong.
3. Get everything in writing. Before signing on the dotted line, make sure everything from the time frame, materials, prices, work and payment terms have been discussed and agreed upon.
