Fannie Mae offering support for the multifamily mortgage market in first quarter of 2012

According to the latest figures, Fannie Mae issued $7.1 billion in multifamily MBS(1) in the first quarter of 2012. The federally-backed company also resecuritized $2.6 billion of DUS MBS through its Fannie Mae Guaranteed Multifamily Structures program during the same time period.
Issuance was up 44 percent since the fourth quarter of 2011, and Multifamily MBS was nearly $110 billion, Fannie Mae to be on pace for $10 billion in GeMS issuances this year alone.
