According to the latest Principia survey of 1,000 homeowners in North America, people are expected to increase spending on modest property improvements over the course of the next year.
When compared to what they spent last year, 38 percent of homeowners expect to spend "somewhat more" or "a lot more" in 2012, while 32 percent expect to spend less or nothing and 30 percent predict spending to be about the same as in 2011. According to the source, nearly two thirds of surveyed homeowners completed an average of 1.4 improvement projects in 2011. For 2012, nearly 90 percent of those interviewed plan to spend time improving their house at an average of 1.7 projects each.
If you are considering medium to large projects, get home improvement financing to fund the tasks that may later increase the value of your home. Popular projects you may want to focus on include replacing flooring or in the case of valuable wood floors – buffing, polishing and getting it restained, the countertops in a kitchen or repainting a room.
