Consumers shopping around for a used car may wish to keep the green in mind - in more ways than one. More recent car models offer improved gas mileage and cleaner technology, which can provide energy-efficient results and leave more money in the bank.
"Not only is driving green good for the environment," said Joe Wiesenfelder, executive editor of Cars.com, "it can help you save a little green in the process. If you expand your definition of a 'green' car beyond just hybrid and electric vehicles, you can easily recognize some of the benefits of being more 'green' behind the wheel."
Those in the market for a vehicle may wish to use their auto financing to afford a used car with better gas mileage, made from recycled material or even a hybrid or electric option. However, before rushing out to purchase a car that features increased sustainability, you may want to wait until the peak of gas prices has hit and they start going down again. When gas prices are up, so is the cost of fuel-efficient vehicles.
