Energy-efficient home improvements can benefit a homeowner's conscience as well as his or her wallet. Investing in an ENERGY STAR approved LED light can save a homeowner $6 a year in electrical costs per bulb and approximately $40 over the course of the bulb's lifetime, which is six time longer than incandescents.
LED lighting products can be three to four times more energy efficient than traditional incandescent bulbs, reports the Center on Globalization Governance and Competitiveness. Consider home improvement loans to fund the switch to LED lights and improve the overall lighting design of the property.
LED bulbs can greatly impact a homeowner's energy bills, the home's sustainability and the impact he or she has no on the environment.
According to ENERGY STAR, if every American home replaced just one light bulb with an ENERGY STAR bulb, such as most LEDs, the nation could save enough energy to light three million homes a year, save about $600 million annually in energy costs and prevent nine billion pounds of greenhouse gas emissions in one year.
