AAA: Vehicle maintenance can trip up some owners

Buying a new car is an exciting time, as you navigate the world of auto financing and dealerships to drive off with your dream ride. However, now that you own the vehicle, are you ready for the maintenance?
According to AAA, too many owners forget critical maintenance steps as the years progress. A recent survey of repair providers found that frequently skipped steps include brake fluid service, battery checks and tire upkeep, just to name a few.
"The expansion of onboard maintenance reminder systems - which often cover oil-change services - appears to help consumers stay on track with oil maintenance," explained John Nielsen, AAA's managing director of Automotive Engineering and Repair. "Many important services that are not typically detailed by those systems are often missed by consumers."
As winter nears, now is the perfect time to check over critical maintenance items on your vehicle. For example, you should inspect your battery regularly, so it always starts during the coldest months of the year. Also go over your heater, defrosters and wiper blades, so inclement weather isn't the bane of your existence.
