When you are thinking about a remodeling project, are you interested in modern amenities, classic features or a rustic feel? It appears that today's homeowners and buyers have their hearts set on a few specific elements, according to a recent survey from Zillow Digs.
When fixing up a master bedroom, several design trends came out on top, Zillow Digs explained. That includes raw and exposed wood features, exciting lighting and neutral paint tones. In fact, 58 percent of the most popular bedrooms chosen in the survey could be defined as "industrial chic," which contain these three elements, as well as other features.
Spending home improvement financing on indoor spaces has also become popular. Zillow Digs noted that as the seasons shift and outdoor renovations become more difficult, 50 percent of all the respondents said that they planned improvements this fall.
They might also have more homes to renovate, as construction activity is on the rise across the country on a yearly basis. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, housing starts were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 956,000 in August, 8 percent above year-ago levels. Housing completions and building permits were also up this past August, compared to the same time in 2013.
