Moving can be both exciting and overwhelming. Once the homebuying process is complete, from acquiring residential financing to scouring listings and attending open houses, it is time to pack up and hit the road.
A recent analysis from Trulia, based off of U.S. Census Bureau data, has found that more people are moving shorter distances than before - and many are choosing suburbs as their premier destination. Trulia reported that 49 percent of moves are completed in fewer than 100 miles. Furthermore, 38 percent are done within 50 miles.
In addition, a high number of people are moving from high-density counties into lower-density ones. Essentially, they are leaving urban sprawls for the suburbs. Many of these suburban areas have cheaper housing and more job opportunities, making them obvious choices. However, personal reasons for moving are still important, so everyone isn't fleeing their current home for a cheaper solution.
If you are planning a move soon, make sure you are ready for the process. Moving can be complicated, and it can help to stay organized. For starters, get a binder with all your personal documents related to the move. This way, you'll have everything you need at a moment's notice. Also let go of personal belongings. Not everything has to move with you, so that old shirt that is never worn can be donated instead of packed up.
