Getting in your car and hitting the open road is a pastime of many American families, and a recent survey has found that the end of the summer is a popular time of year to take part in this type of activity.
According to Edmunds.com, 40 percent of the drivers polled stated that they would plan on a road trip by Labor Day at the latest. In addition, 34 percent said that they would think about this option.
When on the search for auto financing and a new car, many of the respondents had road tripping in mind during the process.
"It's not surprising to us that more than 80 percent of respondents had road trips in mind when they were car shopping," said Edmunds.com CEO Avi Steinlauf. "Road trips are the ultimate test for any new vehicle; if the car can be reliable and comfortable while handling all the loading, unloading and hauling with adequate fuel efficiency, then it'll definitely make a great long term vehicle."
According to Kelley Blue Book, the most popular vehicles for buyers at the moment are compact and midsize sedans. Options like the Toyota Camry, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Cruze are all great deals for potential car shoppers.
