The topic of safety has been on the minds of drivers everywhere. General Motors is in the midst of one of its largest recalls in history, and buying the right vehicle in terms of economy, functionality and safety remains a priority. According to Kelley Blue Book, car shoppers rate a number of safety features - recall advisor, backup cameras, stolen vehicle recovery - highly when looking for their next purchase.
When you are on the lookout for affordable auto financing and great vehicles for sale, it can help to think about these elements. Naturally, safety is important whether you are in the market for a weekend sports car or a reliable van for the family. In order to help you during this process, Home Loan Investment Bank's Christine Dikdan recently offered some crucial advice. For starters, she explained that while avoiding accidents should be the goal, there are several features that can prove beneficial.
"Crash performance, airbags and cameras are my top three," according to Dikdan. "However, it is always best to avoid the crash in the first place by driving responsibly and leaving room between the vehicles surrounding you - or in front of you - while on highways and local roads. Staying alert and focused on the road (no cell phones - text or talk) combined with a be-ready-for-anything attitude hopefully will prevent use of the vehicle crash and vehicle airbag enhancements."
In addition to safety features, you'll want to make sure your vehicle is in its best possible condition. A lack of maintenance can lead to problems, and a proactive approach can keep you safer on the road and prevent costly breakdowns.
"Regularly scheduled maintenance and vehicle inspections by a qualified and reliable mechanic can go a long way to avoiding more expensive repairs down the road," she noted. "Tire rotation/replacement when necessary, as well as vehicle alignment, is very important for the overall stability and control of your vehicle. Brakes are also very important, and any issues should be addressed and corrected immediately. The faster you are driving, the more crucial these elements are for your safety, as well as the safety of others."
With this in mind, consider these safety tips the next time you are searching for auto financing and a new vehicle.
