Technology can help drivers avoid crashes

Staying safe on the road is incredibly important - and it often takes a combination of quality vehicles and engaged drivers to avoid accidents. For those interested in attaining affordable auto financing in order to purchase a new ride, the wealth of vehicle safety technology and other trends have presented a wide range of possible options to choose from.
According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, automatic breaking capabilities have made their way into more autos - and this has resulted in safer driving on the road. For example, some cars come equipped with forward crash warning systems, and will also automatically slow the vehicle down when a potential collision is detected.
"We know that this technology is helping drivers avoid crashes," said David Zuby, IIHS executive vice president and chief research officer. "The advantage of autobrake is that even in cases where a crash can't be avoided entirely, the system will reduce speed. Reducing the speed reduces the amount of damage that occurs to both the striking and struck cars and reduces injuries to people in those cars."
However, AAA reported that some drivers rely heavily on advanced driver assistance systems, and that can increase risk on the road. In order to be safe, drivers should learn the capabilities of the cars' technology, and never depend on these devices to prevent an accident.
