Real estate agents have been a common sight in the housing market for decades, helping buyers and sellers complete transactions and navigate the murky waters of homeownership. However, a recent survey has highlighted a growing trend to the contrary.
According to a survey by Redfin, more homeowners completed the process without a great opinion of their real estate agents. For example, only 31 percent of homeowners between the ages of 18 and 34 loved their agent, while 52 percent of homeowners between the ages of 35 and 44 responded the same way. In addition, 25 percent of the survey respondents said they wouldn't buy the same property if they could do it all over again.
For the study, more than 2,000 U.S. adults were questioned. An additional finding showed that 89 percent of current homeowners polled used a real estate agent in the past 10 years during the buying or selling process.
If more people want to forgo a real estate agent when buying a home using affordable residential financing, it is possible. According to U.S. News and World Report, online real estate tools have made it easier than ever for potential buyers to find listings. Most of the information is already a click away, and that can simplify the process - and change how people go about it.
