From solar panels on the roof to the hybrid in the driveway, American consumers today are shifting their focus from fossil fuel predecessors to their more eco-friendly modern counterparts.
In few places is this more apparent than with "green" automobile technology. According to Cars.com, a number of cities across the U.S. are leading the way in buyer interest for hybrids and electric cars. While California dominated the list, Charlottesville, Va., Portland, Ore., and Tacoma, Wash., cracked the top 10.
"With gas prices continuing to rise, car shoppers have more [reasons] than ever to shop for eco-friendly cars," said Joe Wiesenfelder, Cars.com's executive editor. "Not only do these high-efficiency cars save money at the pump, but they are also great for the environment."
In addition, Kelley Blue Book recently announced two new vehicles on its list of the 10 Best Green Cars. Joining the ranks were the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid and the 2014 Honda Civic Natural Gas models. Both of these vehicles were noted to have good driving experiences and premier fuel economy.
For buyers interested in acquiring auto financing for an eco-friendly vehicle, these options may be ideal. However, there are a number of green cars out there that could be the perfect next automobile for many consumers.
