The beginning of spring is officially in March, and the month has delivered some warmer auto sales and improved conditions for the nation's top manufacturers, in addition to the better weather.
According to Toyota, March's auto sales for the company reached more than 215,000 units, an uptick of 8.9 percent compared to the same time last year. Over the first quarter of 2014, Toyota reported sales of 520,997 units, relatively unchanged compared to the first quarter of 2013.
"Solid March sales pushed first-quarter industry results ahead of last year's pace despite one of the harshest winters on record," said Bill Fay, Toyota division group vice president and general manager. "Toyota dealers had their two best sales weekends of the year late in the month, and we're optimistic that momentum will spring us into April."
In addition, American Honda Motor Co. also announced a strong March for auto sales. The Acura division noted sales of 15,580 units, representing a 10.5 percent gain for the month. Light trucks for that segment increased 45.8 percent in March, selling 10,387 units. Shares were also positive even while a number of manufacturers increased the amount of available buying incentives.
Buyers interested in affordable auto financing should expect favorable conditions this spring. Improved figures are leading to added financial perks from dealerships and more exciting vehicle options.
