In addition to the warmer weather, spring typically brings with it an increased interested in renovation projects and home improvement financing.
According to the recent Zillow Digs Home Design Trend Report, 59 percent of homeowners are looking to start a new project this season. However, the median amount expected to be spent on any upgrades slipped slightly, now at only $700. Larger-scale remodels have fallen out of favor as well, with a greater interest on small changes.
These projects now emphasize organization and storage, Zillow noted. For example, top spring trends include built-in cabinets, cubby storage and repurposed antique furniture. The goal for many homeowners is to hide storage options in plain sight, using attractive design elements and creative features.
Moreover, homeowners also have their eyes set on several other areas of the house when it comes time to spend home improvement financing. Tari Torch Sweeney, an Ohio-based real estate agent, wrote in an article for Trulia that modern kitchens, brass accents and updated bathrooms are more popular than ever.
Many people want to see an updated living space with modern features, including warm colors and soft lighting. Making these types of changes could help current homeowners increase their properties' values and sell in the future.
