Homebuyers have been active across the U.S., with access to affordable residential financing and a strong desire for a new home.
According to a recent report by Redfin, November saw homes sell at a slightly faster pace than October - 27.2 percent of homes in November were under contract in under two weeks, compared to October's 26.9 percent.
"Homebuyers are serious about finding a home before competition heats up in the spring and they know that speed is essential," Adam Welling, a Boston-based Redfin agent, told the news source. "While most Americans were shopping for turkeys as Thanksgiving approached, Bostonians were touring homes and making offers."
Overall, the fastest housing market reported on by Redfin was San Jose, Calif., with 48.6 percent of new listings under contract in under two weeks. Close behind was San Francisco, at 45.8 percent, and Boston, at 39.7 percent.
These aren't the only hot housing markets in the U.S., however. According to Bloomberg Businessweek, states like Wyoming, Alaska and Maine are all forecasted to have a substantial four-year home price increase. These upticks could lead these regions, and others, into becoming some of the strongest markets for buyers and sellers in 2014.
