Throughout 2013, many people decided to take advantage of affordable auto financing and purchase a vehicle. Sales for different manufacturers were strong all year, and one segment in particular - the pickup truck - did exceptionally well.
According to Chrysler Group LLC, December sales for the company in the U.S. were up 6 percent and were the best in six years. Some of the best performers for the manufacturer were the Jeep and Ram Truck brands, which each noted large year-over-year sales increases. For Jeep, a 34 percent sales gain in December was reported.
Reid Bigland, head of U.S. sales for the Chrysler Group, said in a statement that December was the 45th month in a row with year-over-year sales gains. He added that the new Jeep Cherokee sold more than 15,000 units for the month and has maintained solid sales.
Those interested in auto financing appear to be focused on the pickup truck, as well. These vehicles were some of the top sellers all year.
In fact, 2013 was the year of the pickup, according to 24/7 Wall St. More people decided to buy these trucks than nearly every other option. What's more, sales were led by three U.S. makers - Ford, General Motors and Chrysler.
