Chevrolet, Ram get nod for best trucks

Vehicles sales are making strong gains this year, thanks in part to affordable automotive financing. One segment has surged particularly well - trucks.
A recent study by Consumer Reports has found a close competition for the top spot, between the Chevrolet Silverado and the Ram 1500. The award went to Chevrolet, which recorded an "Excellent" road-test score, giving it the nod over the second place finisher.
However, more consumers believe that Ram's offering is a better drive. That truck is more comfortable inside and possibly a more popular solution for those who drive frequently.
"The reality is that you can't go wrong with either one," said Jake Fisher, Consumer Reports director of automotive testing. "Both are capable trucks that get decent gas mileage and are as quiet inside as a good luxury car."
In recent months, truck sales overall have been on the rise, according to Edmunds.com. Full-size options are one of the fastest growing type out of every vehicle. One possible reason for the boost is because of gains in housing and construction, which could lead to increased buyer interest.
For buyers using auto financing, neither the Chevrolet or the Ram is a bad choice. Sales are up for nearly every sort of vehicle, and recent numbers have continued to be better than expected.
