If you are considering selling your home, you want to do everything you can to make the house feel as clean and inviting as possible. It can be tricky to know where to start or how to best showcase the amenities your home has to offer. Here is a handy checklist to help you get started:
- Learn all you can about the home. A potential buyer is likely to have lots of questions. How old is the home? Who designed it? How many bedrooms? etc. Make sure you have as much information as you can.
- Plan ahead. Do a comprehensive home walk through and try and consider each room from the buyer's perspective.
- Clean and clear out clutter. It's tough to sell a messy home, even to buyers who are consider gutting the property. Throw out, donate or just store the things you don't need laying around.
- Stage your home like it's being lived in. Buyers who can picture themselves living in a house are much more likely to make the deal.
Of course, once you've sold your home, you may be back on the market and in need of home financing. Contact your local lender to learn what steps you should take to get ready for your big move.
