Homeowners in 2017 are likely to initiate home improvement projects with a renewed sense of confidence and excitement. According to data from an Angie's List's annual survey of homeowners - combined with the Joint Center for Housing Studies Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity report from 2016 - home improvement spending is expected to be historically high in the new year.
"In our annual Angie's List survey we found that people are just as excited this year about remodeling as they have been in the past. Seventy-two percent are going to spend as much or more to improve their homes this year," Angie's List founder, Angie Hicks, told Week.com.
According to the report, renovations and repair spending for 2017 could hit upwards of $327 billion nationwide - the highest spending annual spending on home services since 2006. This comes after the results of 2016's survey, where Hicks described how homeowners - led by millennials acting against stereotype - are investing in their homes with even greater frequency than was previously predicted.
