Homeowners need to be vigilant when choosing a contractor for their improvement projects, as fraud has become a major issue on the East Coast and across the nation of late. To ensure home improvement financing programs come back with the highest returns on investment, the right providers need to be chosen.
The Asbury Park Press recently reported that one contractor in New Jersey is being sued by the state for allegedly "bilking" $1.1 million from victims over the past several years, and that this entity specifically targeted those who had their homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
According to the news provider, the state's Division of Consumer Affairs has made it a point to identify contractors who are committing fraud against homeowners and bring them to justice swiftly.
Home improvement project starts are at historic levels, and consumers can find loan programs to support their endeavors with ease when working with a small, local bank. Once those funds have been acquired, the next step is to ensure the projects are being kept on target by the right contractors.
