Homeowners in 2015 weren't content to just sit around and enjoy the present state of their homes. Instead, they sought out home improvement financing to hire professionals for every kind of job, from updating their landscapes to renovating their bathrooms.
With so much demand for high-qualify professionals nationwide, Porch.com decided to study which professionals were requested most often in the country's top 25 metro markets.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, considering their jack-of-all-trades reputation, a handyman was No. 1 in 75 percent of the surveyed cities. Huffington Post reported that some cities switched things up, with Pittsburgh calling on roofers most often, and Sacramento needing electricians and plumbers.
Home improvement's widespread popularity is indicative of a healthy housing market. People care about the look and quality of their homes. At January's Design & Construction Week in Las Vegas - which included the National Association of Home Builders International Builders' Show - more than 110,000 industry professionals attended.
"The packed crowds and positive energy throughout this year's Design & Construction Week are another indication of the residential construction industry's ongoing recovery," said NAHB Chairman Ed Brady.
Homeowners and homebuilders both are clearly invested in high functioning, attractive real estate, and that trend doesn't look to end in 2016. In fact, it appears to be thriving.
