With current vehicle prices, 'used' may be the way to go

Are you in the market for a vehicle this summer? If you're like Bridgestone's survey group, the answer could be yes.
The tire company polled more than 2,000 adults, and found that roughly 90 percent intend to take a summer road trip. This means ensuring your vehicle is in tip-top shape - or shopping around for a new one to drive the family across the country.
If you are in the market, then you've no doubt noticed current prices. Numbers are up as of late, and that could be turning you off to buying. However, there are segments where you can find some great savings, according to Edmunds.com.
That is in the used-car segment, especially for vehicles five years old and younger. These shoppers are typically paying around 2 percent less than prices one year ago for subcompact and compact cars, while near-new midsize, minivan and entry-level sports cars are all more affordable on a yearly basis.
"The recent surge in leases for small and midsize cars has spurred an avalanche of post-lease vehicles returning to the used car market, and with larger supply comes lower prices," said Edmunds.com director of Industry Analysis Jessica Caldwell.
With that in mind, look for affordable auto financing and a great used car for your next summer road trip.
